What’s your current favourite menu item from BKK?
Right now? Probably the Fried Chicken Red Curry. It’s comforting, spicy, crispy, rich… basically everything I want in one bowl.
I also have a soft spot for Tom Yum Fried Rice because it’s got that perfect balance of spicy, sour, salty and smoky wok flavour. Proper Bangkok comfort food.
Any new dishes, concepts, or events coming soon?
Always 😅 We’re working on more fun specials, late-night style dishes, and some event collaborations. There’ll definitely be more cocktails, more social-style food, and a few things inspired by Thai night markets. We like keeping people slightly addicted and slightly surprised.
What’s your favourite thing about Gloucester?
The people, honestly. Gloucester has real character. It’s got history, independent businesses, good humour, and people who genuinely support local places when they love them.
And being by the docks on a sunny evening with good food and a drink in hand? Hard to beat really.

Inspired by her roots and culinary adventures, Gena has brought an authentic Thai menu to the Food Dock, built around the vibrant flavours and warm sense of community that defines Thai street food 🇹🇭❤️
Below, Gena gives us an insight into what it`s like being an independent business owner in Gloucester, and her proudest moment so far ❤️
What inspired you to open your business at the Food Dock?
I loved the idea of bringing proper bold Bangkok street food flavours into a place that already had such a strong independent food scene. Gloucester Food Dock has a really good energy — people come there to eat, socialise, try something new, and support local businesses. It felt like the right home for BKK from the start.
Also… I’m Thai, so feeding people is basically in my DNA. There was never any escaping it 😆
What has been your proudest moment so far?
Honestly, seeing customers come back again and again. The first time people start saying things like “this is our Friday spot” or “we brought our friends because you told us to try the fried chicken” — that means more than any Instagram post ever will.
Building something from scratch is brutal at times, so seeing BKK become part of people’s routine is probably the proudest part.
What is your favourite dish/drink from another Food Dock member?
Dangerous question because now everyone will judge me 😂 but I’m a sucker for good coffee and pastries, and I also love trying different small plates around the Dock when I actually get five minutes to sit down like a normal human being.
